The majority of the stock was gone within an hour of Volvo opening up the online reservation system, and at its fastest pace, XC90s were selling at a pace of seven cars per minute.

Buyers could choose either a 320-horsepower, turbocharged and supercharged gasoline engine or a 225-horsepower diesel engine for their XC90 First Edition. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed auto transmission.

Seeing special-edition cars sell out within hours isn’t too rare, but considering the fact that Volvos haven’t been the most desirable cars in recent years, it’s actually rather impressive.
