If Mustang fans were wondering when Saleen would show off its goods for the new generation of the pony car, they don’t have to wonder any more. The company has not only announced that it is in the middle of adding modifications to the 2015 Mustang, it also released a picture of the nose of one. Granted, the car looks a little like the current Chevy Camaro, which should be flattering to the fans of the other pony car since the Saleen is supposed to be an improved version of the Mustang. Right?

The revealed model will be called the Saleen 302 Mustang. With the revelation of this new model, performance enthusiasts are breathing a little easier, considering that not too long ago Saleen showed off some of its plans to tweak the Tesla Model S. After all, who modifies an incredibly fast and groundbreaking electric car?

In the end, Saleen was built on its ability to tune Mustangs so they could whip Camaros, which is why so many fanboys with a base V-6 model have slapped on a Saleen windshield sticker and a weird body kit in the past to impress and frighten other muscle car owners.

In any case, the important part isn’t really the look of the new Saleen version of the 2015 Mustang, but the performance modifications. So far, everyone is just guessing about what those are since the company hasn’t divulged anything officially. Given the name of the car, it’s pretty easy to guess that the 5.0-liter V-8 engine will be powering it. There are a lot of vents and scoops, but it wouldn’t be the first time a Mustang came with a bunch of false ones just to try and impress everyone else, so that doesn’t necessarily indicate forced induction or other such modifications. Whatever is going on, it will likely be good, so stay tuned for more details as they are released.
