Rumors have swirled regarding the Nissan Z becoming more of a sub-brand than a model. Within those rumors came another report that Nissan would somehow cram a crossover into this Z lineup. Just the other day, a preview of a funky concept opened the possibility of such a model being previewed by a concept in Frankfurt. Today, Nissan all but confirms that this is the case.

This sleek new crossover concept is dubbed the Gripz, and if the “Z” at the end isn’t enough of a giveaway, Nissan tied the old 240Z into its press release. Specifically, the automaker spoke of the 240Z desert racers that the brand created many years ago.

Also discussed in the presser is that bicycle road racing also inspired this sporty crossover. Nissan doesn’t make it clear exactly how it plans to tie in the two-wheel part, but we’ll find out in Frankfurt.

Other than the teaser images of the Gripz concept, Nissan also released a 32-second teaser video (below). While this video is neat, it doesn’t really give up any information about the concept.

Lucky for us, the debut of the Nissan Gripz concept is just around the corner, as it will bow at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15th, 2015. I am sure there is plenty of speculation on this new concept, so let us know what you think Nissan has up its sleeve with this concept in the comments section below.

Keep it locked here for all of the official details, as we will bring you the latest on this concept once Nissan releases more info.
