Texas is the unofficial land of the trucks, and many automakers cater to this with special-edition pickups made just for the Lone Star state. Recently, the new Nissan Titan and Titan XD – the latter was recently named the “Texas Truck of the Year” – received the Texas treatment.

Dubbed the Nissan “Texas Titan,” this rig, of course, has loads of features that set it apart from its base siblings. These features include chrome inner and outer finishes on the grille, 20-inch chrome wheels, metallic-finished kick plates, “Texas Titan” floor mats, chrome exhaust exits, and “Texas Titan” badges.

On the Titan XD, this special edition is available with the SV and SL trims equipped with the 5.0-liter Cummins V-8 diesel or the 5.6-liter V-8. This special package also graces the SV and SL versions of the half-ton Titan Crew Cab, but this model features a gasoline-fueled 5.6-liter V-8. Buyers can choose to stick with the base two-wheel drive or opt for four-wheel drive.

No one knows just how well the new version of the Titan will do, but with special editions like this, Nissan is definitely doing what it can to make it succeed. One thing’s for sure, it cannot do much worse than the last-generation Titan.

Pricing and the release date for the 2017 Nissan “Texas Titan” will come at a later date. Stay tuned for updates.
