Jeep Could Push Grand Wagoneer Price North of 100k
With Jeep getting the Grand Wagoneer ready to make a big return, plenty of rumors have been swirling around the SUV. One of the latest is that it will be expensive, like really expensive, pushing well above $100,000.
This latest news comes via AutoExpress, which spoke with Jeep boss Mike Manley. Manley said there really is no limit to the pricing of the new Grand Wagoneer. Of course, everyone has taken that to mean it will cost every bit as much as a G-Class or Range Rover.
When pushed for more info, Manley said a price tag of $130,000 or $140,000 could be possible. Those figures should be for the top-end trim level of the SUV, but it’s a huge jump over the current Grand Cherokee’s priciest trim.
The big question I hope Manley and other Jeep executives have been asking is if this price strategy will alienate Jeep fans. The most hardcore Jeepers are big on the Wrangler only, because they think the Grand Cherokee is a “mall cruiser.” What about Jeep fans who may be interested in the big SUV? Will enough of them have the financial ability to actually buy a Grand Wagoneer?
FCA is in pretty big trouble, and the Jeep brand is the big shining star. It shouldn’t be a surprise the strategy is to squeeze as much value of Jeep as possible, but will an ultra-luxe Jeep even sell well?
