Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Follows its Base Sibling with Mild Updates
Just recently, we brought you the news of the refresh that 2017 Mercedes CLA250 will undergo. Today, it’s the Mercedes-AMG CLA45’s turn to do the update shuffle for the 2017 model year. Like its less powerful counterpart, the updates to the AMG model are mild and almost require a side-by-side comparison to stand out.
Up front, the CLA45 gains a redesigned bumper that features an A-wing design, Titanium Grey front splitter inserts and black flicks on each end, and standard LED headlights. The rear end also gets a few changes in the form of a redesigned rear diffuser with four vertical fins, and a restyled spoiler. Also new for 2017 is an AMG Aerodynamics package that tosses in a larger front splitter, more aero flicks, a black AMG rear spoiler, and black accents on the air outlets on the rear bumper.
Inside the CLA45, there are additional light updates to set it apart from the previous model year. These include red topstitching, an optional AMG DINAMICA package that includes DINAMICA trim pieces and a DINAMICA-wrapped AMG steering wheel.
One area that the 2017 CLA45 remains unchanged is the powertrain. Here, the CLA45 features a 375-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot backed by a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission. This pairing is good for a 4.1-second 0-to-60 sprint and a 155 mph top speed.
Official pricing is not available yet, but we should learn more as we get closer to its third-quarter arrival on dealer lots.
