Mazda Reveals the Limited-Run 2016 MX-5 Miata Launch Edition

We already saw the more performance-focused MX-5 Miata Club debut in New York, and hot on the heels of that debut, Mazda revealed its limited-production Miata Launch Edition. Mazda will base the Miata Launch Edition on the range-topping Grand Touring trim, so it is sure to have loads of standard features.

Two main items will make this special model so desirable. First is its exclusive color scheme, which will include a Soul Red exterior – my personal favorite color – and a Sport Tan leather interior. This color combo will not be available on any other models. Second is the fact that Mazda will limit its production to only 1,000 units.
Other than the exclusive color combo, Mazda will also include a pile of standard features. These include 17-inch alloy wheels, heated seats, auto climate control, SiriusXM, a Mazda Connect infotainment system, a Bose nine-speaker audio system, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and auto headlights. Needless to say, this will be one decked-out Miata.
Mazda is currently accepting preregistration for this special model at www.longlivetheroadster.com. If you are one of the lucky 1,000, you’ll have the opportunity to put down a $500 deposit to secure your rig.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to put your down payment on the Launch Edition blindly, as Mazda didn’t reveal any additional images except the one above, nor did it announce the full pricing details. However, I have a feeling that this model will hover in the $35k range.
You had better act fast, as the last special-edition Miata that Mazda offered this way (the 25th anniversary 2015 Miata) sold out in just 10 minute.
