The teasing of the new 7 Series has been relatively timid, but as we approach the release of the redesigned 7er, Bimmer is starting to do some teasing. Fortunately, the teasing isn’t as bad as many automakers, as BMW has released a ton of information on the features that this new sedan will carry.

The biggest change for the 2016 model year is BMW’s new Carbon Core construction. BMW was the first automaker to use carbon fiber on a production car, and it is spreading this technology to the all-new 7 Series. Some of the key areas that Bimmer added carbon fiber include the roof pillars, the B-pillars, on the center tunnel, just above the windshield, the roof cross members, and in the C-pillars.

This heavy use of carbon fiber will keep the 7 Series light, rigid for better handling, and stringer in the event of a crash. In combination with lightweight aluminum and special steel, the 7 Series will be up to 286 pounds lighter than the current model. This weight loss includes a 15 percent reduction in unsprung weight

On top of these structural updates, the redesigned 7 Series has tons of new tech goodies. Some of those highlighted in the video (below) include remote control parking, which pulls the car in and out of a parking space, a display key that that operates certain functions of the car and has a display to show you important data. Also new is BMW Gesture Control, which allows the driver to control certain features on the car with gestures.

Unfortunately, the new video doesn’t give away the BMW 7 Series’ new look. But a quick look at the other recently redesigned models in BMW’s lineup should give you an idea of what to expect – evolution not revolution. Keep it locked here for more updates.
