BMW Teases its 2015 X5 M and X6 M
The entire BMW lineup has been slowly taking on a new look that takes classic BMW styling and cranks it up just a notch. This new style introduces evolutionary changes — new fascias and headlights, and revised body lines — while maintaining the BMW DNA that we all know and love. The X6 and X5 received their evolutionary changes in 2015 and 2014, respectively, and we have yet to see the M versions of these SUVs since their redesign.
It looks as if we are close to seeing the two biggest M models, as BMW has just revealed a video (below) teasing the X6 M and X5 M. The teaser video is a rather cheeky one that shows the two beastly SUVs using their newly redesigned headlights to blind the automotive paparazzi. Unfortunately, the video doesn’t show us much more than the headlights and taillights, but we do get an earful of the SUVs’ mighty V-8 engines.
Despite the lack of detail in the video, figuring out what the X5 M and X6 M have going for them isn’t difficult. Under their hoods should be the same 4.4-liter, TwinPower Turbo V-8 found in the M5 and M6. In the M5 and M6, these engines produce 560 horses and 502 pound-feet of torque, and there is no reason to expect anything different from the two SUVs.
As with all M models, I expect to see a more aggressive body kit with wide air intakes in the front apron and a diffuser out back. I also expect M-exclusive wheels and some other aesthetic goodies.
Look for the X5 M and X6 M to debut at the LA Auto Show next month and expect it to go on sale before the end of the year.
