The Mazda2 has long been a forgotten model, particularly here in the U.S., as Mazda has not only largely ignored it for some time now, but I can count on one hand how many times I’ve seen it on the road here in the States. In the UK, where superminis are far more popular, the Mazda2 performs rather well, so the Japanese automaker is rewarding out friends across the pond with a pair of special-edition Mazda2, dubbed the Black Edition and White Edition.

The two special models start off with a fresh coat of paint that reflects their respective names, as the Black Edition receives a deep coat of Jet Black Mica while the White Edition gets a coat of Crystal Whit Pearlescent. The exterior is further enhanced with a diffuser-style rear bumper, tinted rear windows, a Jet Black rear spoiler, a set of 15-inch Dark Grey alloy wheels, Black and White Edition badges, and no-cost optional hood and roof stripes. For added convenience, these special models also come standard with power, heated side-view mirrors.

Inside the cabin, the motif continues with body-colored accents on the door trim and air vents. An additional touch of exclusivity is added by the black cloth seats with red accent piping, and the Dark Grey audio panel and steering wheel inserts.

The cabin also includes a handful of extra convenience features including air conditioning, a CD player with a pair of speakers, USB and auxiliary connectivity, and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel-mounted controls.

Doing the motivating it a 1.3-liter petrol engine that delivers 75 PS (74 horsepower) and a manual, five-speed transmission.

The Mazda2 Black Edition and White Edition officially went on sale on January 1, 2015 with a starting price of £12,145 on the road. The pricing accounts for just a £950 increase over the base Mazda2. Unfortunately, it appears as if this special model will be limited to the UK.
