BMW Fully Restores Elvis’ Legendary 507

For the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach this year, BMW will be showing off the very 507 that was driven by the King of Rock himself, Elvis Presley. BMW 507s are rare, and the history that swirls around this particular one makes it that much more amazing.

To make it proper for the swanky seaside show, BMW fully restored the classic roadster. While serving in the military in Germany, Elvis drove the car. Among the stories told about it was that Elvis had it painted red because of all the women who would leave their lipstick prints on the body whenever the car was parked.

For about five decades the car disappeared. BMW was able to dig it up, then took two years to painstakingly restore it to the exact condition when Elvis bought it. The results are pretty impressive, as you can see above and below.
