Toyota Working on Back to the Future-Inspired Video Series

We’ve all seen those annoying images on Facebook… you know, the “Today is the day Marty and Doc went to the future” ones. Well, the actual day they went to the future (October 21, 2015) is right around the corner, and Toyota couldn’t resist aligning the release of its hydrogen-fueled Mirai with this date. What’s more, Toyota has another surprise in store for all you Back to the Future fans out there.

The automaker has gotten the two stars of the movie, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, together to do a series of videos surrounding the legendary day they went ahead to stop Marty’s kid from getting into trouble. Today, Toyota released the first video (below) in the series, which features the two actors talking about some of the futuristic items the movie got right and wrong. Front and center are 3D movies, self-tying shoes, and fax machines.
Toyota also announced that it will take its video series a step further by recreating the black Toyota 4×4 pickup that Marty McFly lusted over in the movie. As expected, the automaker will use a Toyota Tacoma as the base vehicle or the recreation. According to Toyota, this recreated automotive movie star will arrive in the video it will release on October 15th.
This series will hit its peak as we approach midnight on October 21st, making for a dramatic reveal of the final video.
I don’t know about you, but being a huge fan of the Back to the Future franchise, I am beyond excited to see what Toyota has up its sleeve next. Toyota will reveal new videos on the 15th and 21st of October, as I mentioned earlier, and one on the 19th.
