Chevy Expands its Midnight Special Edition Packages to its Pickups

Chevrolet has gone a little mad with releasing special-edition versions of its pickups, but apparently, it knows what it’s doing as it’s seen pickup truck sales skyrocket as of late. Some of the more recent special pickups we’ve seen include the Silverado Realtree and Special Ops, and the Colorado Trail Boss. Today, Chevrolet has announced that three more special models will join its lineup in the Colorado Z71, Silverado 1500 Z71, and Silverado 2500 Z71 Midnight Special Editions.

Like all Z71 models, this trio will gain all the rugged bits needed to tackle off-road driving like an aggressive suspension system, a locking rear diff, a transfer-case shield, Hill Descent Control, and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires.

As for the upgrades included with the Midnight Special Edition packages, well, these are quite obvious, as all three trucks sport a distinctly dark look. This is thanks to an all-black front end that includes a body-colored grille, bumper, headlights bezels, tow hooks and fog lights, black side and beltline moldings, black-painted alloy wheels, special Z71 badges, a black spray-in bed liner, and black bowties.

While the Midnight Special Edition packages are typically not my favorite, I must say that this looks pretty sweet on these off-road-prepped pickups.

Chevy didn’t dig into pricing or release date for the new Z71 Midnight Special Edition at this time, but we should learn more soon. My gut says that this package may add an extra $2,000, or so, to the base price of the respective Z71 models.

We’ll bring you all of the details once they become available.
