There are plenty of things a dealership can do with the financing to make the monthly payments for a car affordable, meanwhile jacking up the total purchase price. Every time the sales or finance staff tries to talk monthly payments with you, change the conversation to the total purchase price and stay on that point. You will likely frustrate the staff, which means you are doing exactly what they don’t want.

    They forgot the most important advice.
    Buy a car in august/september when the new models are coming out and car companies lower prices of new but 1 year old models to get rid of stock. You can get real deals and in some cases good credit conditions.
