Toyota Teases the 2016 Prius, But We’ve Already Seen it
Breaking news: Toyota is revealing a completely redesigned Prius on September 8th! Oh, that’s right, we’ve all seen it already, thanks to a few quick-handed spy shooters. In fact, it has been so heavily criticized for its goofy looks already that I am actually surprised to learn that Toyota is continuing with the reveal. Okay, maybe I am not too surprised, given there are likely millions of dollars at stake here.
The only real breaking news in this whole announcement is the confirmation that the Prius is actually as hideous as the leaked images showed. This is evidenced by the wavy brake light that Toyota released as the “teaser” of the upcoming hybrid.
In the press release, Toyota gave us just two sentences, and in these lines it announced that the 2016 Prius will get “a striking new look, enhanced driving dynamics and impressive fuel economy.” I was at least hoping for a few small details, but Toyota is obviously punishing us for revealing the leaked images to the world.
The other small snippet of info that about the new hybrid’s reveal is that Toyota will live stream it, so we can all be “surprised” in real time.
I hope that Toyota doesn’t pull any funny business by only showing the looks of the new Prius without diving into the mechanical bits. Honestly, the greasy and electrified bits are about the only pieces of the Prius that remain somewhat of an unknown.
If you’re interested in seeing the live reveal, you can catch it here.
We’ll being you all of the latest details as they become available, so stay tuned for more.
