When Steve Wozniak talks about technology, people listen. That might be in part because the guy founded a little-known tech company called Apple. He just endorsed the Chevy Bolt, and it’s already starting to cause waves.

The deal is that Wozniak has been a vocal, big supporter of Tesla. He’s proudly driven his Model S. Elon Musk drummed up the fact that the guy bought one back in 2013. Wozniak has written about his experiences driving the EV, including frustrations with visiting off-the-grid areas like Yellowstone National Park.

So when Wozniak took to Facebook and announced he’s looking to change cars, with a photo of him standing next to a Bolt, it’s making some people look at the EV from GM a little closer. When asked why he’s switching, the tech guru had no reservations about saying he believes the Bolt is better than the Model S, let alone the Model 3.

It all goes back to the user interface, said Wozniak. He didn’t elaborate, but said after “seeing the insides” of what Tesla’s cooked up, he thinks GM has the better product. It comes down to a simple design, and excellent conveniences Wozniak says are missing in Teslas. That’s a surprising statement coming from someone who certainly knows his tech. But Wozniak stopped short of giving the Bolt a full endorsement, saying he’ll have to own one and drive it for a bit first.
