General Motors released its redesigned GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado back in 2014, and since then it has been showing off their versatility with various special editions and packages. For the 2015 model year, Chevrolet is set to unveil yet another package for Silverado that it’s calling the Custom Sport Package. This package is not one that is pulled completely out of thin air, as Chevrolet used the Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the 1960s as inspiration for it.
With this package, the 2015 Silverado gains a slightly sleeker look thanks to body-colored front and rear bumpers, and a body-colored grille surround with a black grille that features chrome accents. Additionally, no 1960s Custom Sport Chevy was complete without tons of chrome, and the 2015 Custom Sport Package holds true to this tradition with chrome 20-inch wheels, door handles, mirror caps. and body-side moldings. Also part of this package are projector-beam headlights, tow hooks, and heated power-adjustable mirrors.
The Custom Sport Package will be limited to LT, LTZ, and Z71 Silverados. The LT model will be available in either black or white, while the LTZ and Z71 models will have the option of black or White Diamond Tricoat.
Chevy will start placing orders for this package in sometime in January 2015 with the price ranging from $1,950 to $2,950, depending upon which trim level the package is added to.
I am honestly happy to see that GM is proud of its new trucks and rolling out new packages and special editions to keep them fresh. That said, I am really waiting for GM to decide to reveal a true off-road burner or a high-performance street truck. Unfortunately, It’s looking more and more that GM is content with staying this course. Oh well, at least you get a little bling for your truck with this package.
