Scion has been rather busy as of late, and it should be if it doesn’t want to go the way of Saturn. The company’s sales have been steadily sliding, and not even its popular FR-S can keep the young company afloat. In an attempt to bump up its sales moving forward, Scion is set to reveal two new models at the New York Auto Show in April 2015. One of these models we already know about, but the other is something brand-new.

The known model is the production version of the iM Concept that Scion showed off a few months ago at the 2014 LA Auto Ahow. While the hatchback segment may not be huge in the U.S., it is a popular segment among young buyers, which happens to be Scion’s target audience. This is particularly true if Scion chooses to give the production iM a high-performance variant to compete with the VW GTI or Golf R.

The iM concept, which is based on the European Toyota Auris, will likely see a handful of changes on its way to the production line. We’ll likely see it lose all of the performance add-ons, the wild fog lights and the aggressive body kit that Scion displayed at the 2014 running of the LA Auto Show. In all honesty, it’ll likely closely resemble the base Auris in its standard guise with plenty of optional performance and appearance goodies available from Scion.

The model that we have yet to see in any form is Scion’s first-ever sedan. There were rumors at one point of a sedan version of the FR-S, but that is very unlikely, as Toyota would need the cooperation of Subaru to pull that off, and Subaru seems rather reluctant to make any changes to the BRS/FR-S twins. The most likely scenario is a reworked Camry or Corolla, or possibly a rebadged version of the European Toyota Avensis, which shares its New MC platform with the current Corolla, tC and xB. Then again, Scion could go its own route and develop a sedan all its own.

We’ll keep an eye on this and bring you any updates as they become available.
