Lotus Unveils The Evora Sport 410

These days, Lotus seems pretty intent on making better and better versions of its cars. By better and better, I of course mean lighter and lighter, because that’s what Lotus is and should be all about.

This go around, we’re talking about the Evora Sport 410. If you don’t remember, the prototype was revealed in Geneva, but we finally have seen the final product and have some specs.
This new car tips the scale at about 2,800 pounds, thanks to a lot of lightweighting. Lotus says the car is covered “nose to tail” with carbon fiber components, and judging by its weight that’s probably not an exaggeration. A titanium exhaust also helps shed some weight.
Lotus says the aero enhancements actually doubles downforce when the Evora Sport 410 reaches higher speeds. Despite all the extensive, track-oriented modifications, the car’s supposed to be civil enough to drive on the road. Theoretically, you could drive it to your favorite race track, swap out the tires, do some hot laps, swap the tires again, and go home. The interior even looks fairly civilized.
Of course, the proof is in the pudding. Acceleration from 0-60 takes just 3.9 seconds. Top speed is 190 mph, making it a great track car. Lotus has been declaring war on weight, and the automaker is winning. This is a fight we can all get behind.
