Jaguar F-Type Project 7 Pricing Revealed

When Jaguar first revealed the Project 7 in 2013, it came with a bunch of “ohhhs” and “ahhhs,” but no one actually expected Jag to build one that customers could buy. Fast-forward to the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed and the production version of the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 made its surprising debut courtesy of Jag’s Special Vehicle Operations team.
Carrying a tweaked version of the supercharged, 5.0-liter V-8 found in the F-Type R Coupe, the Project 7 pumps out 575 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, and launches to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds on its way to a 186-mph top speed. Sounds like a whole lot of fun, right?
Well, with all of that fun comes a massive price tag, as Jaguar has just announced that this street-legal, all-aluminum race car will hit dealers with a starting price of $165,000. For those keeping score at home, the range-topping F-Type R Coupe checks in at $99,000, so we’re talking a $66,000 increase for this special rig.
Jaguar also announced that the F-Type Project 7 will be available in two standard colors: Glacier White and Ultra Blue. The Iconic British Racing Green will be available, as will Ultimate Black and Caldera Red, but they will all be at-cost options.
The Project 7 will start rolling into American dealers in the spring of 2015. Jaguar will build only 250 of these beauties, but there is no information on just how many will make their way to the U.S. My best guess would be 75 to 100 units will be U.S.-bound.
