Hacking A Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Is Apparently Easy

It’s another day and another vehicle hack. That’s kind of how it feels lately, with (thankfully) white hats showing how lax some automakers are on connectivity security.

This time around it’s the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (the plug-in model) getting shamed. Pen Test Partners, a British cybersecurity firm, says it hacked the crossover and made a video about it, which you can watch below.
They turn the lights on and off, play with the AC and even turn off the alarm.
The most disturbing thing about this is that Pen Test Partners claims Mitsubishi didn’t take the security threat seriously. In other words, the company doesn’t seem to be moving on a fix because it doesn’t think one’s necessary.
