We just recently showed you a shadowy teaser image of Toyota’s upcoming C-HR, a concept crossover set to debut at the 2014 Paris Auto Show, and speculation has running wild ever since. As with so many of these concepts, a media outlet got a hold of the official images and spoiled Toyota’s surprise.
According to Carscoops, these images show the upcoming concept, and it is unlike anything we’ve ever seen with a Toyota badge. Sharp body lines are plentiful and the swooping roofline shows that this Toyota crossover means serious business. Around back, the boomerang taillights and air outlets make for a very aggressive look.
What remains to be seen is exactly what Toyota plans to do with this concept. Is this three-door crossover a preview to a new design language that the automaker will use across its lineup or is it a preview to a new RAV4? Maybe it is a preview to an even smaller crossover that will sit beneath the RAV4.
The latter of the scenarios is the one I subscribe to, as the three-door body style seems more in line with the Nissan Juke than anything the RAV4 would compete with. Additionally, this style is way too wild for a volume family hauler, like the RAV4. This is something funky that Toyota will likely aim at younger buyers, much like Nissan did with its Juke.
For now, the only news we have to pass along are these images, so we will have to wait for the Paris Auto Show to see what this hybrid crossover really is.
