Audi Reveals The 2015 RS 5 Coupe Sport Edition
Special editions are profit drivers for luxury automakers, as they don’t cost too much to produce but their exclusivity allows the manufacturer and dealerships to drive the price upward. Audi is one company that tends to shy away from numerous special editions, but every now and again it does release one. The latest one is the RS 5 Coupe Sport Edition that it now has up for sale in the U.S. in very limited quantities.
The RS 5 Coupe Sport Edition takes the already awesome RS 5 and adds in a handful of exclusive features. On the outside, the Sport Edition adds in a set of 20-inch, five-V-spoke wheels and a set of red brake calipers. The exterior is available in Daytona Gray pearl effect, Nardo Gray, or one of a handful of Audi exclusive paints.
Inside the cabin, the main feature that sets this model apart from the rest is its black and Crimson Red fine Nappa leather interior, Crimson Red stitching and “Audi Exclusive” badges. On top of this striking interior color combination, buyers also get all of the standard interior goodies included with the RS 5, including embossed seatbacks, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a leather shifter boot.
Under its hood, the RS 5 Sport Edition retains the standard 4.2-liter V-8 that produces 450 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The power routes through a seven-speed S tronic transmission before heading out to all four wheels via the Audi quattro all-wheel-drive system. This drivetrain affords the coupe a 0-to-60-mph time of just 4.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph.
The RS 5 Sport Edition will be limited to only 75 units, and it’s base price will start at $87,575, which is a healthy $16,675 bump over the base 2015 RS 5. I guess that’s the price you pay for exclusivity…
