Hennessey Pumps Up The Hellcat To 1,000 Horsepower
For some, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is weak. If that’s you, check out the latest creation from Hennessey, the HPE1000. Essentially, the car gains a 4.5-liter supercharger to cram loads of air into the cylinders. As a result, peak output soars to 1,000 horsepower, plus 969 lb.-ft. of torque.
Considering the Texas tuner is using a supercharger that displaces more volume than most modern engines, this upgrade is crazy. Already, some people have reported trouble controlling the regular Hellcat. Different groups have preached against the “depravity” of the Demon. But the HPE1000 pushes past all of that.
With the Hennessey HPE1000, you’ll be the hero at your community drag strip. Hennessey claims a quarter-mile time of 9.9 seconds. The car hits 141 mph before reaching the finish line. As for 0 to 60 mph acceleration, that takes a mere 2.8 seconds. That’s impressive, if not a little scary, complete with small tires.
We don’t know how much the HPE1000 will cost. Expect Hennessey to charge a fair amount, on top of the cost of a Hellcat. Still, considering it will boost the car to the performance level of exotics, at least in some ways, this upgrade is a relative deal.
