Tesla just revealed the Model S P100D and is bragging it’s the quickest production car in the world. Thanks to a battery upgrade, it can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. That’s quicker than the Lamborghini Centenario, McLaren 570S and Porsche 911 Turbo S, to name a few examples.

Of course, this claim by Tesla comes with some qualifications. There are some limited-production vehicles that are quicker, but most of those aren’t in production at the moment. Also, no doubt after the car hits 60 mph, acceleration starts to fall off, a common problem with most modern EVs. But still, the thing’s fast and it’s a sedan.

Just as impressive, the estimated driving range for the P100D is 315 miles on a single charge. That’s longer than any other production EV in the world, making electrification that much more practical. As the name denotes, the car is powered by a 100 kWh battery pack, which can be added to the Model X too.

Tesla says the Model X P100D can go from 0 to 60 in just 2.9 seconds. Thanks to the additional weight and other factors, the crossover can go 289 miles on a single charge, which is still amazing.

Instead of having to trade in their cars, Tesla Model S and Model X P90D owners can swap for the more powerful battery pack by shelling out $20,000. If you have a P90D on order, it’ll only cost you $10,000 to make the switch.
