The 2 Series is a great vehicle, hearkening more to what made BMW great back in the day. BMW also loves its swoopy Gran Coupes, the four-door “coupes” that promise to mix sexiness with some practicality.

Then there’s the new M2. It’s a hardcore performance model that’s got enthusiasts wringing their hands and wanting to get behind the wheel of one. What if the company were to mash all those things up into one glorious vehicle?
That’s exactly the question TopSpeed asked lately, and the result is a thing of beauty. The rendering above shows what such a vehicle would look like.
This isn’t something that just came out of thin air. BMW has been saying it wants to offer more compact models. A 1 Series Sedan is definitely coming, plus a 1M. Rumors also indicate a 2 Series Gran Coupe will be hitting a dealership near you in the near future.
Making an M version of the 2 Series Gran Coupe would be BMW’s answer to the Mercedes-AMG CLA45. The big question is if such a car would knock the 3 Series off its comfortable perch of dominance. Maybe, but if it does it would be a well-deserved position for the car.
