Kiss The Mitsubishi Lancer Goodbye

After killing the Evo, Mitsubishi is continuing with its charge into obscurity by ceasing production of the Lancer. This non-shocking revelation came from an interview the company’s North American COO did with Autoblog.

Not that the Lancer was a wonderful car, but this means the Mirage will be the only non-crossover the company makes. That’s pathetic. Mitsubishi hasn’t said anything about a replacement for the Lancer, which sadly means the pipe dreams of a new Evo are probably just that: pipe dreams.

The death of the Mitsubishi Lancer is coming quickly. This summer the last one will roll off the assembly line. There will probably be some leftover vehicles for a few months, like into next winter, because let’s be honest – nobody’s buying the Lancer. Just over 14,000 were bought in 2016, versus over 360,000 Civics. People actually bought more Honda Civics (31,482 to be exact) just during December.

So there you go: the Lancer is dead and the average American will never notice.
