BMW X4 M40i Finds its Way on to the Internet Ahead of its Debut

The BMW X4 arrived to a mix of reviews, as some folks loved its sloped rear glass and others (myself include it) see it as kind of a waste of metal. To each is their own is what I say. Those of you who loved it are likely amped for the LA Auto Show, as that is when the more potent X4 M40i is set to launch. Well, it looks like you won’t have to wait to see what it looks like, as its images have already leaked online and were scooped up by Bimmer Today.

The X4 M40i model will build upon the xDrive35i model, which makes use of a 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The M40i, however, will push the boosted six-pot to 360 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque. This potent six-cylinder will mate to an eight-speed auto transmission and a performance-tuned all-wheel-drive setup will deliver the oomph to the road.

This powertrain will result in a 0-to-62 mph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, according to Auto Guide. This is a significant improvement over the xDrive35i model, which takes 5.2 seconds to hit 60 mph and tops out at just 130 mph.

In the images, you can clearly see that the M40i is a sportier rig than the xDrive35i model. It comes with a sexy body kit, 19-inch wheels, and more. Inside, there is an M steering wheel to set things apart.
