5 Tricks to Save Money Buying a New Car

4. Sleep on the deal.

Car dealers know that if you leave the controlled environment of the dealership and go home you will be able to reason through if the purchase agreement they offered is a good deal or not. They will offer for you to take the car home with you that very day while they “hammer out the details of the financing” and then you come back in a few days later to sign papers. Don’t fall for this trick. Leave the new car at the dealership and seriously think about the deal you have been offered. This means you need to read through the entire sales agreement before leaving. Pay attention to any extras added to the contract, like warranties other than the manufacturer’s, rust protection or any other accessories they are adding into the price of the car. If you don’t feel the deal is good, write down your list of demands that will make the deal a good one and then present the list when you return to the dealership. You can even go to other dealers and see if they will beat the deal, that way you make sure you are getting the best price possible.

A salesman will sell you what he wants to sell, not what you want. They look after their own pockets, not your interests, although they say the contrary,
