10 years after the last NSX rolled off the assembly line, a new generation is set to debut. The Acura NSX made its name as a tunable, affordable supercar that could keep time with its European brethren, but the new generation is stepping in to a whole new situation. Where the original NSX had a grip on the “affordable supercar” title, the Nissan GT-R and the most recent high-performance variants of the Chevrolet Corvette have provide performance that keeps up with Ferraris and Porsches while keeping the price in the five-figure range. Even so, the NSX promise performance that should be worth the price, with a hybrid powertrain similar to the one to be offered in the Ferrari LaFerrari. Using electric motors for a power boost to the non-drive wheels creates a version of all-wheel drive that will allow for performance-enhancing torque vectoring. Behind this will be a V-6 engine, making for around 480 combined horsepower. This will all be controlled by a twin-clutch seven-speed transmission, and housed under a sleek “Keen Edge” design that will make the NSX stand out in looks as well as substance.
