As a fan of the classic Sentra SE-R – the 1990s model, not the crap that came in the 2000s – my interest was piqued when Nissan unveiled the Sentra SR Turbo. Sure, it’s no SE-R, but just to see a Sentra that is somewhat performance oriented makes me smile. Today, this model – and the rest of the 2017 Sentra lineup – received its official pricing.

We’ll kick this off with the good stuff. The SR Turbo model will actually come in higher up the trim ladder than I initially anticipated. I assumed it would bridge the gap between the SR and SL trims, but instead, the SR Turbo will be the range topper at $21,990 with both the CVT and six-speed manual transmissions.

As for the rest of the 2017 Sentra lineup, they will all see mild pricing changes – some are going up and other are going down. The trims seeing price increases include the:

  • Sentra S 6MT $16,990 ($210 increase)
  • Sentra S Xtronic $17,990 ($230 increase)
  • Sentra SV Xtronic $18,790 ($$240 increase)

Those seeing price cuts – likely to make room for the SR Turbo – are the:

  • Sentra SR Xtronic $19,900 ($510 decrease)
  • Sentra SL Xtronic $21,500 ($670 decrease)

There is one model missing from the equation this year, and that is the more fuel-efficient FE+S trim. My guess is that it didn’t sell well, despite its extra 1 mpg city, 2 mpg highway, and 2 mpg combined.

The 2017 Sentra lineup will start arriving at dealerships today, but the SR Turbo will not start rolling in until October.
