The Jaguar XE is coming soon, and luxury sedan buyers the world over are tapping their feet in anticipation of seeing Jag’s new 3 Series fighter. Lately, Jaguar has resorted to a whole bunch of teaser videos and images that have created a feeding frenzy at dealers as buyers await its September 8th reveal. Today, Jaguar adds another log to the fire, as it releases some details and a video on the new tech features that will come with the XE.

The big deal of this announcement is the introduction of the new Jaguar InControl infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen. This infotainment system features all the apps needed to keep the XE up-to-date for the new generation of driver. The InControl Apps allow drivers to hunt down a great hotel deal, check available parking in the area, listen to streaming online audio and even have a conference call.

Also included is InControl Remote, which gives owners the ability to control their XE from anywhere in the world. They can unlock the doors, start the engine, set the climate control, adjust the audio system and much more.

To help keep the car safe, Jag’s new sedan comes with InControl Secure and InControl Protect. The latter includes an SOS Emergency call and an optimized Jaguar Assistance call without the driver needing to have a cell phone in the car. InControl Secure proactively monitors the XE by way of a tracking device that will track the car and alert the police of its location if it is stolen.

There are also a pair of options that will be available with  this system. The most desirable of these options is WiFi service for multiple devices. The other optional feature is a heads-up display that shows the driver all of the pertinent information, like navigation directions, sign recognition and current speed. What’s more, this isn’t your typical LED screen reflected on the windshield; nope, this is a projected LED display, so the image is clear and crisp.

From the smattering of technical advancement laid out in today’s announcement, it is easy to see that the XE is ready to take on the 3 Series and C-Class, and possibly win.
