US Marshals Bust Several SEMA Parts Companies
According to multiple reports, up to eight different aftermarket parts companies were busted by US Marshals at SEMA this year. For far too long, companies have been showing up with obvious knock-off products, but nobody has done anything about it, until now.
Omix-ADA was the one who finally got the government involved, after it had many original designs allegedly stolen by Chinese companies. Now, those manufacturer booths have been shut down and the parts in stock seized as evidence.
You might think there’s no harm in what these companies were doing. In reality, not only were they benefitting off the hard work of Omix-ADA and others, their inferior products harmed the reputations of legitimate companies. Also, these inferior components could cause a crash, or not hold up at all during one. The average person has a hard time telling the original parts from the knock-offs.
This issue is far from over. Representatives from the different companies need to appear in court in 21 days, kicking off the fun legal process.
Sadly, more of these counterfeit companies will pop up in no time.
