In celebration of October 21st, 2015, the day that Marty and Doc went to the future, Toyota has been releasing short videos and teasing us with the promise of a full video with Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox reliving the Back to the Future Franchise. Yesterday, it delivered on that promise, and you can see the latest video below. Toyota also promised a recreation of Marty McFly’s dream Toyota 4×4, and that promise was realized too!

The black truck is based upon the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, and does bear a striking resemblance to the pickup that Marty drooled over. The first step in turning the 2016 Tacoma into the 1985 Toyota Truck was to coat it in the original, period-correct paint. With the paint out of the way, Toyota then installed KC lights with yellow covers, retro-looking headlights and taillights, 1985 Toyota Truck mud flaps, a custom tailgate with the iconic “TOYOTA” logo, and “D-4S” fuel-injection badges.

Though I think this replica would be an awesome limited-edition model for Toyota to offer, I highly doubt the automaker will produce it. At least Toyota followed through with a recreation that did the original version justice.
