The Toyota Yaris Gets a New Look and New Tech Features for 2018

The Yaris often seems to be the forgotten Toyota, as it hasn’t gotten much love form its maker as of late, other than the swap of the Scion iA to the Yaris iA. This changes in 2018, as the tiny hatchback will get a comprehensive refresh that adds a sharp, new look and loads of new features.

In the looks department, the Yaris will retain its basic design but gain new styling. This includes a new front end with the L and LE trims getting a new grille and chrome accents. As for the SE trim, it will gain a new piano-black mesh grille with a chrome surround and new 16-inch machined-alloy rollers with dark accents. The rear end gets a wider look thanks to larger, horizontal taillights integrated into the rear hatch, and a reworked bumper with a new lower garnish and side reflectors.

Inside, the 2018 Yaris’ changes will be a little less obvious, but still plenty important. The L trim will have a tilt and telescoping three-spoke steering wheel with audio controls. The L and LE trims will gain the SE trim’s instrumentation, which includes an LCD display that shows the odometer, tripmeter, clock, outside temp, current and average miles per gallon, distance to empty, average speed and shift position, an eco-driving indicator, and warning messages on manual transmission-equipped models.

The L and LE trims will also gain the Entune Audio system, which includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, AM/FM/CD capabilities, six speakers, an auxiliary audio jack, phonebook access, Siri Eyes Free, and Bluetooth music streaming. The SE trim will gain the Entune Audio Plus system with the Connected Navigation App via Scout. This system includes a 7-inch touchscreen, an HD Radio tuner, six speakers, an auxiliary audio jack, Siri Eyes Free, SiriusXM, and more.

Finally, there will be two new exterior color options: Blue Eclipse, and two-tone Blue Eclipse with a Black Sand Pearl Roof.

The 2018 Toyota Yaris will hit showrooms in the summer of 2017, but there are no pricing details available yet.
