The New Land Rover Discovery Set to Debut This Month
Since 2004, America has been without the Land Rover Discovery (outside of the new Disco Sport). Sure, we’ve had the LR4, which is virtually identical to the global Discovery 4 model, but that just wasn’t the same vehicle. A recent announcement from Land Rover says that the Discovery will make its triumphant return to the U.S., and it will debut in just a few weeks’ time.
The details surrounding the new Discovery remain under lock and key for now, but there are a few tidbits of info. Unlike its cousin, the Discovery Sport, the Discovery will be a full-size SUV that has room for seven passengers. The wording of the latter statement leads me to believe that unlike the current LR4, the new Disco will come standard with three rows of seating.
Land Rover also revealed a teaser image (above) that shows the new Discovery will take design cues from its Sport cousin, including the sportier front end that’s been spreading across the LR lineup. I am assuming that the new Discovery will replace the LR4, which would mean that Land Rover will officially axe the flat-face look that the brand has had for decades here in the U.S.
Other than these bits of information, we will just have to wait until its September 28th debut at the Paris Auto Show to learn more about the 2017 Land Rover Discovery.
Stay tuned for updates.
