The Model X Has A Big Door Problem
After trying out a Model X recently, I now see why so many people are complaining about the doors. It’s not just that the rear falcon wings are finicky; the front doors are also glitchy and downright erratic.
I’m not alone in my opinion. Consumer Reports just issued its preliminary report on the crossover, with the doors being among its chief complaints. CR also isn’t a fan of the huge front windshield, poor front/rear visibility, and curious lack of rear cargo utility. It also pointed out that rear legroom is tight, which I hated as well.
About those doors, which have been a problem well before the first Model X rolled off the assembly line, Tesla has a plan to fix them. Using over-the-air updates, the company hopes to have all issues resolved within a month or so.
Elon Musk is going so far as to say that “the doors will be better than normal doors as opposed to worse” during the automaker’s shareholder meeting this week. That’s a bold claim. He does things like that all the time, usually delivering on them, maybe a little later than promised.
