The Mercedes-AMG GT R Is So Fast On the ‘Ring It’s A Monster

There’s fast, and then there’s the Mercedes-AMG GT R. Not to be confused with the Godzilla with a name way too similar, this beast recently powered around the Nurburgring in a mere 7:10.92. That time was set by Sport Auto, a German auto publication, with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which are street legal.

That’s crazy fast, with few cars that can even keep up. It’s only 11 seconds behind the Lamborghini Aventador SV, which isn’t too shabby. Keep in mind the GT R has four-wheel steering, a dual-mass flywheel, 577 horsepower ad 516 lb.-ft. of torque on tap, so it’s no slouch.

The bad news is we’ll have to wait until summer of 2018 before this Mercedes-AMG hits the market. Until then, enjoy the video below of the monstrous ‘Ring run.
