The 2018 Audi TT RS to Hit Showrooms This Spring
We’ve already seen just about all there is to see about the new Audi TT RS, but Audi cleared up a few details about the U.S.-spec model today.
Of course, the looks of the U.S.-spec TT RS are identical to the model shown off at the Beijing auto show in 2016, as is its powertrain. For the latter, the 2018 Audi TT RS uses a new 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that churns out a mighty 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. These number mark incredible increases of 40 horsepower and 11 pound-feet of torque.
Not only is this engine more powerful than before, but thanks to its 20-inch shorter length, magnesium oil pan, and aluminum engine block, it is 57 pounds lighter than the 2013 TT RS (the last time Audi built this model).
This engine will mate exclusively to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Sorry, folks, no option for a manual.
This all results in a 0-60 mph sprint time of just 3.6 seconds – 0.7 seconds quicker than before – and a top speed of 174 mph with the optional Dynamic Plus package.
Standard features on the 2018 TT RS will include 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, taillights and daytime running lights, the matte Alu-optic styling package, aluminum race inlays, and a fixed rear spoiler. Inside, the standard goodies include a leather and Alcantara three-spoke steering wheel, heated fin Nappa leather front S sport seats, aluminum doorsill inlays with “TT RS” logo, and stainless-steel pedals.
All this will ring in at $64,900 when it hits dealer in the spring of 2017.
