2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is Certified as the Fastest Muscle Car Ever!

Haters are going to hate, which is why there will still be irrational Mustang and Camaro fans who still cannot admit the plain truth: Dodge has created the most powerful and fastest production muscle car ever. It’s not just Dodge claiming this — the NHRA has certified the car’s quarter mile performance. Even still, haters gonna hate.

How fast does the “too-heavy” Hellcat move? When wearing its stock Pirelli P275/40ZR20 P Zero tires, the car pull is a quarter mile time of 11.2 seconds at 125 miles per hour, which is pretty impressive. Slapping drag radials on the Dodge makes it a ten second car, like the one Vin Diesel kept asking for. NHRA recorded the car doing a quarter mile run in 10.8 seconds at 126 miles per hour.

Anyone who cannot admit that’s damn impressive is being completely irrational.

On top of that, the past generation of the Challenger was the most livable of the pony cars on the market. That probably will remain true for the new generation of the muscle car, although to be fair the new Mustang’s comfort level is a question mark.

Going back to raw acceleration, the 2014 Camaro ZL1 does a quarter mile in 12.1 seconds. The Ford Shelby GT500 runs it in 11.6 seconds. When it comes to flat-out speed, the Challenger is the new king in town. It’s a funny twist, considering not that long ago the Camaro and Mustang aficionados used to laugh at the third pony because it had no completely crazy, forced-induction version. Now that the gloves have finally come off, everyone sees just how brutal Dodge can really be.
