Tesla Model X Drama Keeps Raging On

To call the Model X a controversial vehicle is saying too little. It actually seems to be causing more of a negative stir than the Model S, with even some Tesla fans saying it’s excessive, garish, etc. The drama is continuing to swirl around several issues.

First off is that crash we reported on in Montana. Reportedly, the Model X, which was in Autopilot at the time, was speeding by a few miles per hour. Some are wondering why the tech allows for that, while Tesla’s saying the crash was basically user error. The Model X owner doesn’t want to speak with Tesla about the matter in private, but instead wants it to be a public conversation.

The Model X driver wrote an open letter, accusing Tesla of trying to cover up problems with Autopilot. According to “Mr. Pang,” the automaker didn’t contact him during the internal investigation of the accident, only reaching out after releasing a public conclusion about the cause. He also claims that there were no warnings from the tech about road conditions, etc.

This isn’t the first crash with a Model X the driver claimed wasn’t their fault. Tesla has effectively quashed those kinds of statements with data it says prove users aren’t utilizing the vehicle properly. Could the problem be with the Model X’s design?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that a number of Model X owners have experienced trouble with the falcon wing doors not opening, the front doors not closing and the windows not working properly. Consumer Reports also recently published a long piece about disgruntled Model X owners, thanks to a number of quality issues.
