Shelby Creates A 750+ Horsepower Super Snake

Shelby has done it again, announcing that the Super Snake is returning for well-heeled Mustang fans. The great news is that the newest iteration of the car squeezes out over 750 horsepower, which is more than enough to make Corvette fanboys nervous and defiant.

To get the Super Snake, a person will need to purchase the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. On top of that, the starting price for the Super Snake kit will be $49,995. The price of the car and the kit pushes the Super Snake into above what a Mercedes AMG C63 S will set one back. There will only be 300 of them built for 2015, which at least helps justify the steep cost.

A big first is coming with the 2015 Super Snake. Shelby says the car can be had with an automatic transmission, something that wasn’t even available before. People who want the raw power and lineage of the Super Snake, but find rowing through gears to be too much work should be relieved, while performance enthusiasts are at best rolling their eyes.

There is a long list of modifications that come with the Super Snake. The 5.0-liter V-8 engine gains a nice Ford Performance supercharger, literally breathing more life into it. Borla supplies a rumbling exhaust. Various suspension upgrades come from Ford Performance as well. The car rides on 20-inch WELD Racing Super Snake wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires wrapped around them. Excellent stopping ability is provided by the 6-piston Wilwood brakes.

Some of the modifications are more for looks, ensuring that nobody confuses the Super Snake for just an average Mustang GT. Special striping gives the muscle car a more aggressive appearance. The interior features special badges a three-gauge dash pod and upgraded upholstery. The carbon fiber hood does help shed weight, plus it features a forced-air scoop. Aero enhancements include a larger spoiler in the rear.

If that’s not enough, buyers can pony up the cash and go for a more powerful supercharger, plus a beefed-up intercooler and heat exchanger.
