Since the FR-S made its debut, the tC has been almost forgotten. Now that the FR-S has cooled down a little, Scion decided to again turn its attention to its original sports coupe. This new attention comes in the form of the wildly styled Release Series 9.0 model.

The tC Release Series 9.0 is a joint venture between Scion and Jeremy Lookofsky from Cartel Customs, and it looks simply amazing. The two-tone exterior is available in only a single color scheme that includes a unique black hue on the top half and Magma Orange on the lower half. The exterior also includes a set of black-finished alloy wheels, gloss-black side-view mirrors and door handles, a blacked-out Scion badge up front, a rear spoiler, and a center-exit exhaust system.

Inside the cabin, the orange-and-black scheme continues with a mostly black cabin that includes orange contrast stitching on the seats and steering wheel, orange seat belts, and orange-painted HVAC vent surrounds, instrument cluster bezel, steering wheel spokes and door pulls. Additionally, this special model includes a push-button ignition system with a “Cartel Logo” on it and Cartel-branded floor mats.

Performance enhancements include only Toyota Racing Development lowering springs. This means that power is delivered by the same 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine found under the hood of the base tC. This engine produces 179 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, and mates to either a six-cog manual or a six-speed auto transmission with paddle shifters and rev-matching technology.

The 2015 Scion tC Release Series 9.0 will be available in January 2015, and it will start at $23,190 with the manual transmission and $24,340 with the automatic. If you plan on buying one, you had better act quickly, as Scion is only building 2,000 examples of this model.
