Buick is doing everything it can to shed the retiree-car-of-choice stigma it carried all those years ago, and with each passing year, it is succeeding. At the 2015 L.A. Auto Show, the automaker showed off its new design language with the release of the fully redesigned 2017 LaCrosse, which distanced the brad farther from its decades of relying on AARP members.

This all-new sedan draws inspiration from the insanely well-received Avenir concept and the 1954 Wildcat II concept. This new look starts out with Buick making the sedan sleeker than ever by lengthening by 0.6 inches, widening it by 0.4 inches, and pulling its roofline down by 1.6 inches. The latter may reduce headroom slightly, but damn it looks good like that.

On the outside, buyers will also notice that the mirrors are now mounted on the doors instead of near the corners of the front side windows. Also standing out are its standard 18-inch wheels, swept deck lid that acts as a spoiler, standard HID headlights, and a standard capless fuel filler.

Inside the cabin, the new LaCrosse is more premium than ever. It features a horizontal form that widens the interior, a floating center console, soft-touch materials, French stitching, aluminum sill plates, wood trim, and more. Further enhancing the LaCrosse’s cabin is its available Moon White ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats with perforated leather, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a premium Bose audio system, and a power rea sunshade.

The 2017 LaCrosse will come equipped with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that cranks out 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. This engine features Active Fuel Management that shuts down some of the cylinders under light load to conserve fuel.

The V-6 engine mates to an eight-speed auto transmission that delivers the power to the front wheels as standard. Optionally, buyer can select Buick’s first-ever twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system that splits the torque for optimal traction and handling.

One really neat feature that caught my eye on the 2017 LaCrosse is its Lead-Pull Compensation system. This special steering program actually compensates the steering angle for high-speed crosswinds and road crowns that can cause you to drift in one direction.

The 2017 LaCrosse will arrive in the early summer of 2016, but pricing remains unknown for now.
