Porsche Reveals The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid
Soon, we’ll have another exciting hybrid from the geniuses in Stuttgart, the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. The first public appearance will be at the Paris Motor Show, but fortunately we already have plenty of info and pictures.
According to Porsche, the plug-in hybrid can be drive on pure electricity for 31 miles. A 2.9-liter biturbo V-6 is paired up with the electric motor. Total system output is impressive at 462 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque, while the top speed is about 172 mph, because Porsche doesn’t make boring hybrids. Despite all kinds of luxury items and hybrid hardware that add weight, the sedan can charge from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds.
Of course, Porsche says it leveraged technologies developed for the 918 to make this new version of the Panamera. Unlike the previous hybrid version of the Panamera, the full performance capabilities of the electric motor spring to life with the slightest touch of the accelerator pedal. And at all times, additional power can be added instantly by the electric motor, so driver’s feel a surge of power.
Just like other second-gen Panameras, the new plug-in hybrid has a quick-shifting PDK. The liquid-cooled 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery is located under the cargo area.
No official word on pricing yet, but the 2017 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid should hit dealers in the United States by next summer.
