Porsche Cranks up the Juice on the Macan Turbo
The Macan, despite being mispronounced by the entire world (given it is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger, it should be pronounced “Machan”), is one of the most awesome small crossovers available today. Today, Porsche announced that it’ll make it even more awesome with the addition of a new Performance Package for its range-topping Turbo variant.
This new package takes the already potent 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine and pushes it to 440 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. This represents gains of 40 horsepower and 36 pound-feet. On the track, this translates to a 0.2-second improvement in 0-to-60 time, dropping it to 4.2 seconds, and a 5 mph top speed improvement to 169 mph.
In addition to the retuned engine, this Performance Package also comes with a revised chassis. This includes a 10 mm (0.39-inch) lower ride height, grooved front rotors that are 30 mm (1.2 inches) larger than the standard ones, six-piston red front calipers, and the Porsche Active Suspension Management system with self-leveling air suspension.
Rounding out the changes is Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package and a sport exhaust system.
This new version of the Macan runs a cool $86,445, making it a $10,445 upgrade over the Turbo model. The Macan Turbo with the Performance Package is available for order now. Precise delivery dates have not been announced.
