Another piece of evidence has come forth that proves just how serious Porsche is about hardcore performance. The German automaker is considering taking the Cayman GT4 a step higher by creating a GT4 RS version of the car.

During an interview with Evo for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Andreas Preuninger said that if fans asked for such a car, it just might happen. Preuninger should know about the possibility of such a machine considering he’s the head of the company’s GT line, which includes the 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS, and Cayman GT4.

In other words, if you want Porsche to build the car, you need to let the company know your desires loud and clear.

The Cayman GT4 is already pretty potent, thanks to the 3.8-liter flat six that belts out 385 horsepower. Porsche even threw in a manual transmission, something that’s been missing from the 911 GT3. Just where exactly Preuninger and his team would take the car’s design for even more performance ability is the key question, but they likely have some aces tucked up their sleeves.

The most obvious changes would be adding lightness to the car by swapping out some parts for carbon fiber. Improving the aerodynamics is another likely move. It’s possible the car could make most 911 models look elderly, which would make for an awkward position for some hardcore Porsche fans.

Maybe this news will help calm those who fear Porsche has lost its edge. While such claims might seem ridiculous given that the company just created a monster hybrid supercar, critics have looked past that and instead point at the Cayenne, Panamera, and Macan as evidence that the level of performance has been watered down. Then again, the news of a possible Cayman GT4 RS will likely be ignored by the cynics, meanwhile everyone else can celebrate the possibility and let Porsche know that if it builds the car, buyers will be ready.
