Earlier, I broke the news to you that the Cayman GT4 was getting even more incredible with a new Clubsport model. At the L.A. Auto Show, the German sports car manufacture unveiled this new race-only model, showing us the potential the 911’s little bro has.

Porsche’s main point of focus for the Cayman GT4 Clubsport was weight loss, as it dropped it from 2,955 pounds to a svelte 2,866 pounds. Though Porsche didn’t go too deep into how it achieved this weight loss, I say it is safe to assume that a stripped-out cabin, lightweight wheels, and a light racing seat had a lot to do with it. The cabin also gains a welded-in roll cage and a six-point safety harness.

Under the hood of this track-only version of the Cayman GT4 is the standard 3.8-liter 385-horsepower flat-six that powers its road-legal sibling. A standard 18.5-gallon fuel cell feeds the flat-six engine, but buyers can opt for the larger, 26.6-gallon fuel cell. While the engine may be pretty much a carryover from the street-legal GT4, its six-speed dual-clutch transmission and mechanical rear axle are both specially tuned for racing.

The chassis is another area that GT4 Clubsport undergoes significant changes. Here, you’ll find the front and strut systems from the GT3 Cup, both of which are lightweight and likely contribute to this model’s weight loss. Also included is a racing brake system that tosses in 15-inch steel rotors on all four corners with six-piston aluminum calipers up front and four-piston aluminum units out back. This brake system also includes a modified ABS system with 12 settings.

The final modification to the chassis is a set of 18-inch forged wheels wrapped up in Michelin slick tires.

Interested buyers need to reach out directly to Porsche Motorsport North America to purchase this exclusive racing rig. Also required is a pile of free money, as this model runs a whopping $165,000, which is $80,400 more than the standard Cayman GT4.
