MX-5 Accessories Concept to Debut in Chicago
The 2015 Chicago Auto Show kicks off on February 12, and Mazda will be there with plenty of cool things to show off. Likely the biggest draw at the Mazda booth will with the 2016 MX-5 Accessories Design Concept, which will give buyers a chance to see the accessories that the Japanese automaker may offer for the ND Miata.
If you’re looking for insane power output and big performance upgrades, you’ll likely be disappointed. This concept will most likely show off aesthetic goodies only. From the teaser image that Mazda released (above) I can see that there is a small, black spoiler, a set of black rims, and a new rear bumper insert added to this concept. Other than that, there’s not much else to see.
I expect to see more aerodynamic goodies up front, like a small chin spoiler, maybe a lighter-weight hood, and some headlight options. Other exterior accessories could include mirror caps, new side skirts, and maybe an engine cover.
Inside the cabin, I think we’ll see an accent package to help liven up the fairly bland cabin a bit, and possibly some audio options. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see more upholstery options and a set of sports seats from Recaro.
For now, all I can do is speculate, but we don’t have much longer to wait until Mazda reveals this concept in full. I only hope that along with this reveal comes the end of the embargo on the MX-5’s U.S.-spec output numbers. I’ve about had it with this secrecy…
