Model 3 Too Expensive? Tesla’s Got Your Back

Not everyone has the cash for a Model 3, even though it’s way cheaper than a Model S. Don’t get the EV blues if that’s you, because Tesla still wants your business.

Elon Musk dropped a bombshell in Norway recently. Speaking to a group, he strongly hinted the company is working on a more affordable vehicle than the Model 3. Could it be a subcompact? It would make sense, because a tiny car would have a tiny price.

This new vehicle will be the fourth-generation model for Tesla. It would also make it so pretty much anyone who wants an electric vehicle can have one.

While launching a subcompact car is a great idea, Tesla has left alone a huge market segment in the United States: pickups. There was talk not too long ago about a Tesla truck, possibly built in Texas, but that’s fizzled out more recently. Considering how popular full-size and even midsize trucks are here, it would be a smart move.

A small crossover, rumored to be called the Model Y, that’s based on the Model 3 is supposed to be coming out in about three years.

Some people are speculating that this new more affordable subcompact vehicle would be called the Model 4. If so, that would be interesting, because the rest of the Tesla lineup spells S3XY, so it would turn into S3XY 4.
